Description:

Drab, unstreaked reed-warbler with rather prominent supercilium. From Paddyfield by shorter and less distinct supercilium; absence of dark border above supercilium; lack of dark stripe behind eye; longer and stouter bill and longer tail. From Blyth's Reed; more rufous tones, with warm buff breast and flanks.


Distribution:

Rare summer visitor to the low valleys in Diamer, Ghizer, Gilgit and Astore districts in Gilgit-Baltistan. Reed-beds, rank vegetation and scrub in swamps and marshes; also drier open areas in mountain valleys, up to 3000m, frequently away from water.


Behavior:

Forages mainly low down within reeds or bushes, near or over water. Takes food also from water surface, from floating vegetation, and by hopping about on ground near water in marshy habitat. Feeds also in trees not far from reedbeds. Diet includes insects, small beetles and ants etc.
